Antropomorfia - Engendro
Antropomorfia is a one-man-band from Spain. Fernando Payer is responsible for everything on this album. Death Metal with some Black Metal influences is his style. Appearantly, Antropomorfia started in 1989, but this is the first full length release, after appearing on a compilation and a demo in 1994, which had the same title as this album: Engendro. Payer is probably a very busy or a very lazy guy, because 3 songs from the demo re-appear on this album.
Morbid angel, Cannibal Corpse and Deicide are mentioned as influences, although it doesn’t sound too much like these bands if you'd ask me. Actually, I’m not sure which bands I can compare this with, might have something to do with the fact that this album sounds like a million other boring wannabe bands.
The drum computer sounds pretty brutal, but misplaced. A real drummer would make a hell of a difference. Some guitar riffs are pretty cool, but not original. Same thing goes for the singing: quite average.
There are some extremely boring “eerie” intros on the album, sounds which could be used in a horror movie or something. Big mistake! The artwork (done by Avulsed singer Dave Rotten) pictures from splatter films like Braindead and Basket Case. Again: not too original…
Lyrics and titles are in Spanish, so I can’t really understand them, but I can guess what they’re about… Funny thing: one song is called Nu Metal, probably a big statement against this style which I guess Mr. Payer is not a big fan of.
Conclusion: this sucks! You could better spend your money on the new Cannibal Corpse or Krisiun album or something.
Oh, yeah, there’s a cover on there too: Alter World Obliteration. Maybe I should be very ashamed if I tell you I don’t know who wrote it, but I can’t find it in the booklet! If you can tell me who wrote I'll send you this cd, but I don't think you'll like it, so don't bother.
